from the cover notes: -
'The new work by Rostovsky, the ballet "The Meek One", based on the short story of the same title by Dostoyevsky, was created for one of the leading dancers of the world, the soloist of the Mariinsky theatre Farukh Rouzimatov. The music may be singled out for the diverse tone colours and the wide range of the orchestra instruments' usage. The neighbouring tonal and atonal intonations and vertical elements, "concrete" music, the usage of the last achievements of the computer science in the area of symphonic score, on the one hand, and the wholeness of the music and the talent of its author, on the other, put Rostovsky into one row with the creators of the music of the future. We hope that the ballet "The Meek One" will win its well deserved place in the repertoire of the national and foreign theatres'
